WRITING METHOD

Writing The Writing Method
Phimister’s School of English
A step-by-step course in written English · B1 — C1

Learn to write, one piece at a time.

Most students don’t struggle with their English — they struggle with the blank page. They know the words, but not where to begin, what to put next, or how to bring it all to a close. The Writing Method solves exactly that. Instead of asking you to write a whole text from nothing, it teaches writing the way you’d learn any practical skill: you watch a model, you copy it with support, and then you do it yourself — building a complete, confident piece block by block.

No theory dumps, no intimidating blank box. Just a clear path from the first sentence to the final full stop.

See it, replicate it, produce it

Every single block follows the same three-step rhythm. The support is heaviest at the start and gradually disappears, so that by the end you are writing entirely on your own — without ever having felt lost along the way.

Step 1

See

You study a real model, with every move colour-coded and explained in the margin. You notice how a good writer does it before you try yourself.

Step 2

Replicate

You practise the same move with guided, self-checking exercises — choosing the better option, completing frames, ordering and matching. Instant feedback, no waiting.

Step 3

Produce

You write your own version on a fresh topic, then reveal a model answer to compare. The training wheels come off — but only once you’re ready.

Every text is built from the same seven blocks

A finished piece of writing isn’t a mystery — it’s a sequence of predictable parts. Learn each part on its own, then assemble them. These seven blocks are the spine of every level; what changes as you move up is how sophisticated each one becomes.

01
Opening
set the topic
02
Opinion
thesis & position
03
Reason
develop the point
04
Example
evidence
05
Linking
connect & concede
06
Closing
bring it home
07
Full text
assemble it all

A progress map at the top of each level lights up as you complete the blocks — so you always know how far you’ve come.

Three levels, one method

The rhythm never changes — but the writing grows up with you. Pick the level that matches where you are now.
